I started a newsletter! And I’d like you to hold my hand while I see what kind of amorphous thing this may or may not become… How millennial of me.
As someone constantly trying to assert their existence by screaming into the void, this seemed like the logical next step in my life of being someone who “is not a writer but writes”.
Over ten years ago, I started a blog that nobody read, then I moved on to Tumblr during my angsty teen days, which eventually led me to needing a big ol’ break from spilling my guts to strangers. That break ended on New Year’s Day of 2017 when I decided to make grossly personal memes on @sinternetexplorer.
It turns out that IG doesn’t quite put up with my need to spew more than a couple sentences. Also, sometimes I long for the letter-writing days... Anybody else? For some reason none of my pen pal relationships ever lasted more than a couple months. So, think of this newsletter as me writing you a nice little letter, but with fun links instead of stickers. You’re welcome to reply by email or by leaving a comment on Substack however, I won’t cry if you don’t. I might cry for other reasons, though. That’s something I do often enough.
You can expect:
links (books, weird videos, perhaps a TikTok or two),
cultural observations
personal stories
maybe some offhand internet gossip.
See u in the emails,
Emma
